It is with great sadness that the family of Kenith H. Gering announces his death. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. His love of our Heavenly Father , family and friends were most important to him. Kenith passed away on-Sunday August 23, 2015, at his residence following a battle with cancer. Ken was born in Clayton, Washington, November 1946, the 7th of 12 children born to Arthur and Jeanette Pool Gering. Ken spent his early years in Washington and later in McMinnville, Oregon. At 18 he joined the Army where he served and given an Honorable Discharge. Although this was during the Vietnam era he never left the states. Instead serving his country in and around Washington DC. He was proud to have served his country. Ken came home from the service and met his future bride to be, Jean Steinke, whom he married on June 19, 1970. Later to be sealed in the Arizona Temple for time and all eternity. They then had three boys, Kenneth, John, and Joseph, who were Ken’s whole world. Ken was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church and over the years worked with the Youth and Adults alike. After moving to Arizona Ken and Jean served a mission in San Carlos where they worked with the Apache people. They had a deep love for the people and their ways. Ken loved to BBQ chicken, that he learned to do from his brother David Gering. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being a scout master and spending time with his boys. He enjoyed the outdoors and all the creatures that crossed his path. He was quick with his humor and sharp with his remarks. Ken worked for John Deere and was able to fix or repair all types of machinery. He was known for his honesty, integrity, work ethics and being able to fix machinery rather than just putting in new parts. After his son’s death Ken left Endicott, Washington, moving to Nampa Idaho and worked a short time for his brother David, helping him to build specialty food machinery. Later he went to work for Motive Power out of Boise, Idaho building locomotives. Retiring in 2009 and moving back to Arizona where he lived until his death. Ken had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed working with decorative metal and building different pieces for family and friends, even selling a few of them. He was preceded in death by a son, John Dewain Gering, and Grandson, Justin John Gering, a brother, Milton John Gering, his parents, Arthur and Jeanette Gering. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Steinke Gering of Globe, Arizona, sons Kenneth (Tammy) St. John, Washington, Joseph (Tammy), Spokane Washington and grandchildren, Dakota, Ashley and Jacob. Also survived by his 10 siblings, Martha Slaughter, Ogden, Utah, Louise Barnhart, Tonto Basin, Arizona, Lamar Gering, Yamhill, Oregon, Carline Miller, Pahrump, Nevada, Melbert Gering, Eugene Oregon, Lee Gering, Spokane Washington, Marie Gerhart, Edgewater, New Mexico, David Gering, , Norman Gering, , and Melba Speer, Nampa, Idaho and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenith you are loved and will be missed but always remembered by the many acts of kindness and love you showed to all who knew you.
