On January 26th Martha Ann (Brockert) Skamel passed to a better place after a lingering illness. She was born on August 29th 1944 in Dodgeville Wisconsin with her twin sister Mary. She joined the family of Claude and Geneva Brockert and five older brothers; David, John, James, Richard, and Michael. In the early 1950’s the family moved to Arizona due to the health of one of the brothers finally settling in Globe Arizona. In 1967 she met and married Joe Skamel in Sacramento California beginning life as an Air Force wife. She was the mother of two children, Joseph P. III and Kathleen E. Martha will be remembered as a kind, loving and understanding spouse who was always supportive of her family regardless of where they were sent by the military. She was always ready to serve and assist whenever there was a need and was very active with the Sodality of the Holy Angels Catholic Church. She was an avid participant in the activities of the Globe Active Adult Center especially in the hosted bingo games. Martha leaves her husband Joe Skamel of Globe, her Brothers Richard of Maryland, Michael of Prescott, Daniel of Globe, and her sister Mary Idler of Colorado, her children Joseph of Minnesota and Kathleen of Wisconsin and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Geneva of Globe, her brothers David, John, Jim and Patrick. A memorial mass will be celebrated on February 13th at 10 a.m. at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Globe preceded by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Martha will be missed by family, friends, and community. Donations may be made to Saint Vincent’s of Globe in lieu of flowers.
