Thelma Ochoa was born on April 21, 1928 in St. Johns, Arizona to Telesfor and Rafaelita Zamora. She died at her daughter and son in laws home (Chuck & Virginia Powell) on December 18, 2014. Thelma was 86 years old. Thelma grew up in Solado, Arizona and Concho, Arizona. She had 2 siblings with only 2 surviving because of RH Factor. Thelma married Domingo Candelaria when she was 18. They had 6 children. As she told her children “It was a fairy tale life and she was the princess”. Her 1st baby Sylvia died at 6 months old. Her Prince Domingo died when she was 30. She knew heartache early on. Thelma then married Archie Surrarrer and moved to the big city of Globe, Arizona. They had 4 children. Life in Globe was difficult because she was used to small town St. Johns and being surrounded by family and friends. Her cousin Priscilla Nabor, then moved to Globe and later cousin Lupe. This made her happy. Thelma then married Quintin Ochoa who adored her and her eight children and brought into her life her beloved daughter Flo Guerra. Tragedy struck again and her son Avery died at age 18. When Thelma was in her mid fifties she had 3 neck surgeries which left her in constant excruciating pain and unable to walk. Her beloved Quinton Ochoa died when she was 62. Thelma loved to crochet, embroider, fish and watch novellas. She lived for visits from her children and grandchildren. Her daughter Priscilla Flores died two and a half years ago, her daughter Flo Guerra two years ago. Her son Domingo Candelaria died Jan 19, 2014, Thelma’s sons Domingo Candelaria and Frank Candelaria, daughters Virginia Powell and niece Ramona Baca Gonzales lovingly cared for Thelma in their homes for the last 8 years. We are so sad you are not here with us but happy you are not in pain. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, her children Avery Ochoa, Pricilla Flores, Domingo Candelaria, Sylvia Candelaria and Flo Guerra. She is survived by her daughters Virginia Powell (Chuck) of Globe, Fela Music (Doug) of Tonopah, Carla Gahm of Phoenix, Yvonne Davis (Marvin) on Cassa Grande, sons Frank Candelaria (Katrina) of Globe and Alan Ochoa of Mesa, her sister Margaret Garcia of Phoenix, 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
