Danny Shaffer Smith

Danny “Papa” Smith, age 68 of Globe, passed away at his home on November 11, 2014, with loved ones at his side. He was born on December 28, 1945, to Sam and Berneda Smith in Inglewood, California, and moved to Globe, Arizona, as a young child. After graduating from Globe High School in 1964, he served in the U.S. Army. He then married his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary, and was later blessed with one beloved daughter, Tanya Gantt of Globe, and then with two beloved granddaughters, Shealene Stidham and Danyelle Gantt, also of Globe. In past years, he enjoyed hobbies such as silversmithing and sandpainting. More recently, Danny was retired and enjoyed riding Disneyland rides with his granddaughters, fishing, riding his quad and simply spending time at home with his family. He was quite the family man who sincerely devoted his life to his wife, daughter and granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Travis Smith. In addition to Mary, Tanya, Shealene and Danyelle, Danny is survived by older brothers, Gary (Sonnie) Smith of Tucson, Arizona, and Jim (Linda) Smith of Queen Creek, Arizona, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is deeply loved and dearly missed. Services for Danny Smith were held on November 15, 2014, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church
