David E. Ray 1947 -2014 David E. Ray, age 67, passed away at home in Globe, AZ on September 6, 2014. David was born on June 20, 1947, in Herington, KS. David was the son of the late Berta and Eugene Ray of Emporia, KS. He is survived by his sisters, Deborea Baker and her husband Martin, Sheila Ray and her partner Leon Mason, his sister-in-law Darla Ray and his nephews Will Heffernan and his wife Chrisan, Shawn Ray and his wife Angela, Derek Ray and his niece Wendy Lederer and her husband Erhard and by great nephews and nieces Noah, Savannah, Morgan, Henry and Nick. His younger brother, Ernest, preceded him in death. David was raised in Emporia, KS, and graduated from Emporia High School in 1965. He graduated from Emporia State University (Kansas State Teacher’s College) in 1973 with a B.S. in Secondary Art Education. David taught in Holton, KS for 2 years before moving to Globe, AZ where he taught Art at Globe High School from 1975 until his retirement in 2001. He did maintenance work for the school in the summers. David was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting. He became involved with Archery and was very involved with the Apache Bow Hunters club of Globe, AZ for 30 years. At his request there will be no funeral service. If desired, in memory of David, a contribution may be made to the David Ray Memorial Fund at the Apache Bow Hunters Club, PO Box 1795, Claypool, AZ which will be used to help those in need of financial assistance with medical issues.
