Joe M. Carrillo passed away on July 26, 2014. Joe is a lifelong resident of Globe. He is a veteran on World War II, serving in the navy as a petty officer on the U.S.S. Tennessee, E Div., 1943-46. Joe was employed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was initiated into Local 518, Globe, AZ, in 1952. He was appointed International Representative in 1970 and assigned to the Seventh District. He retired in 1989. Joe is a life member of the American Legion Henry Berry Post No. 4 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 1740. He received a 60 year member service award from the IBEW in March 2012. He is preceded by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lillian Pinon Carrillo in 2012. He is survived by his three children, Joseph M. Carrillo, MD of Napa Valley, CA, Catherine Covarrubias of Mesa, AZ and Stephanie Larson of Tempe, AZ and three grandchildren, Andrew Larson, Jennifer Larson, and Reynaldo Covarrubias, Jr. He was a good neighbor, a kind man, and a good man. He leaves a legacy rich in public and community service. Funeral arrangements are through Lamont's Mortuary, 328 South Hill Street in Globe, AZ. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 1, from 2:00 pm to 6:00pm at Lamont’s followed by the praying of the Rosary at 7:00 pm, Holy Angels Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:00am, Holy Angels Catholic Church followed by his burial at the Globe Cemetery. A lunch will be held at the American Legion, Post #4, 645 S. Broad S. following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a charitable contribution in his memory to Holy Angels Catholic Church, Ladies of Sodality Fund, 201 S. Broad St., Globe, AZ 85501.
