Daniel Lupe was born February 18, 1947 in Globe, AZ to Evalina Boni and Samuel Lupe Sr. He is the oldest of six kids. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Friday, June 20, 2014. In his younger years he grew up in Cibecue, AZ and was raised by his grandpa. While in Cibecue he raised chickens and every time they laid eggs he would gather them and tell his grandpa to cook them. He also rode horses and went hunting. Around the age of 14 he moved back to San Carlos to live with his Aunt Virginia Ewing. During his elementary years he attended Fort Apache School in Whiteriver, AZ. During his high school years he attended Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, CA. He graduated in 1967, and right after high school he joined the Army at age 18. He went to train at Fort Huachuca, AZ where he was a supply clerk. Immediately after training he was sent to Vietnam where he served 10 months. He was awarded the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the national Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. While returning home to San Carlos he met Beverly Young. They married on July 25th and this year would have been their 40th wedding anniversary. They later started a family, all daughters; Corletta Lupe(Joseph Quitano), Samantha Lupe (Ivan Begay), Danielle Lupe, Adelina Evalina Lupe (Frankie Zamora), Francesca Lupe (Lawrence Macktima), and 12 grandchildren 5 boys, 7 girls. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Andrew Lupe. Daniel’s work experience ranged from everything such as, ranch hand and truck driver to year of janitorial service at St. Charles and Rice School. During the summer he was a member of the Forestry Program, his years of firefighting experience took him from a Crew Member to Crew Boss, and finally to Squad Boss. In his older years he did camp crew with his wife Beverly. After retirement he loved to fish, go on adventurous trips with his wife, make woods and cut hair for many friends. He loved to recycle, spend time with his grandkids and reading. He also loved to watch Wheel of Fortune, The Price Is Right and The National Geographic Channel. He also had many friends young and old. Everyone knew him by his nickname “Spider Man”. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those that knew him Wake will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. at the Lupe’s residence in San Carlos, AZ Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Burdette Hall in San Carlos, AZ. Interment will be at San Carlos Veterans Cemetery.
