Brenda Hunter-Benavides, 65, passed away on May 16, 2014 at Banner Baywood Medical Center. Funeral services were held on May 24, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church. Born on July 22, 1948, to Edmund and Virginia Hunter, she was a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. Brenda spent her childhood years in Chicago, Illinois before returning to Arizona. She was a 1966 graduate of Globe High School. After graduating high school, Brenda gained employment at the San Carlos Job Corps, where she met and married her husband Carlos Benavides. She was an employee for the San Carlos Unified School District, and retired in 2005. Brenda will be missed dearly as she leaves behind four daughters; Enedina, Gina, Angela, and Virginia Benavides, sisters; Loretta and Linda Hunter, Roberta Hunter-Patten, and Sylvia McBroom, fifteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
