Julia Louise (Stevens) Thompson, age 74, of San Carlos, Arizona passed away on February 26, 2014 at her residence in San Carlos, AZ She was born in San Carlos, AZ on July 10, 1939, the daughter of George H. and Gertrude (Logan) Stevens. Julia was a loving homemaker most of her life and a wonderful house wife. She attended St. Catherine’s Catholic School in Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduated from St. John’s Mission in Laveen, Arizona. Julia enjoyed being outdoors. She loved to garden, to pick and harvest native foods for her cooking. She would also carefully pick medicinal plants. She liked taking care of her family, sewing beautiful quilts, cooking, and going on camping trips with them. She loved to make Tulapai (a beverage) for family gatherings and Sunrise Dances. She was an avid reader of the Word of God and attended St. Charles Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents George H. and Gertrude Stevens, her son Paul Thompson, her daughter Rebecca A. Thompson, her three sisters; Cecelia Victor, Dorothy Stevens and Louise Harney, her three brothers; George, Jess and Benjamin Stevens and one God-daughter. Julia is survived by her husband David W. Thompson, Sr., her sons; Joseph W., David A., Patrick M., Luke A. and Victor J. Thompson, her daughters; Mary Ann A. Boni, Dorinda G. Ivins, Lorenda G. Thompson and Christine M. Thompson, her sisters; Madeline S. Polk, Dr. Victoria Stevens, Daphne Stevens and Sara Chavez, her brothers; John Stevens and Carl Stevens, her step-mother Sarah Stevens, 36 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and three God- daughters through the Sunrise Dances. She lived life to the fullest and touched countless lives with her humor, laughter and love. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her. Wake will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. at David W. Thompson’s Sr., residence in Cutter, AZ. Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M. at the residence. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos, AZ Interment will be at the Thompson’s Family Private Cemetery in Cutter, AZ.
