Coulter G. “Guy” Anderson, 75, died Friday morning, November 29, 2013 at his home at Silver Hill near Globe, AZ He was the son of Coulter ‘Red” and Mary Armstrong Anderson, who were early residents of Miami, where his father was a pitcher for one of the early baseball teams of the area and a printer for the Arizona Silver Belt. The family moved to a ranch in skull Valley and Guy was born in Prescott in 1938. When he was five years old, the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where he was raised and graduated from Central high School. From there he joined the Air Force, and after his tour of duty, he came back to Globe where his folks were living, and followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming an apprentice printer at the Arizona Silver Belt. Guy and his wife, the former Donna Green, were married in 1967 and raised their blended family of six children, who all attended Globe Schools. During that time, Guy was one of the founders of the Globe-Miami Vigilantes, a group that became well known and traveled all around the stae, putting on gunfighter reenactments of early western days. They also built an old western town named Two Bits, which was located at the county fairgrounds. In 1984, Guy and Donna founded the Copper Country news, a free newspaper that was distributed to communities in central and southern Gila County and part of Pinal County. Guy became active in the Globe lions Club and went on in later years to become a District Governor for the Lions, covering a third of the state. Donna joined him in Lions membership and also became a District Governor. The two of them traveled all over the US, Mexico and Canada for Lions events and both became very active in Lions affairs, attending several International Conventions. In later years, he began having serious health problems, which eventually caused him to become disabled. During this time, he also was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathleen Weber of Prescott, and a son Dale Green. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, five children, Debbie Guthrey (Danny) of Central heights, Daniel Green (Lori) of Sahuarita, Machiel Bain (Kenneth) of Tucson, Lance Anderson of Vici, OK and Eugene Anderson (Patti Jo) of Gastonia NC, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at St. Paul’s united Methodist Church in Globe on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 11:00-12:30 P.M. Services will begin at 1:00 P.M. followed by interment at Globe Cemetery.
