Jack Marvin Zufelt, Sr, age 82, entered into eternal rest at his home in Central Heights, Arizona on November 21, 2013. Jack was born on August 12, 1931 in Miami, Arizona. He was a student at Miami High School where he graduated in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in May 17, 1949. He was on the ship USS Repertus (DD 851) and fought in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1953. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which was his greatest passion. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Elks and American Legion. Jack spent most of his life doing what he loved, being a Funeral Director. In 1971 Jack packed up his wife and two kids in a little VW and headed to Hollywood, CA with nothing more than a few suitcases to persue his career in Collage and get his Funeral Director and Embalming license. He worked at a few privately owned mortuaries until he was able to buy his own. In 1977 he purchased his own mortuary and operated it until his heart drew him back to Globe. In 1980 he bought Under the Palms, but his passion for funeral directing led him to give up the business and go back to working at what he loved. So he began working at Miles-Damron Funeral Home until he retired late into his years. For a short period of time he worked worked security for Freeport and had to retire due to health issues. Jack’s hobbies were fishing, hanging out with friends and family. Enjoyed telling a joke or two. His passion was his family and his great grandbabies who he was extremely proud of. Jack will be greatly missed by all who loved and adored him. Jack is survived by his son Jack M. Zufelt, Jr. (Carol) of Globe, AZ, his daughter Mary (Missy) Karnes (Ernest) of Globe, AZ and seven grandchildren; Shannon Osteros, Randy Clawson, Aaron Zufelt, Lynn Dybdahl, Crystal Warden, Dustin and Erica Karnes all of Globe, AZ, 17 great grandbabies and many nieces and nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his teenage love and wife of 50 plus years Mary E. (Van Meter) Zufelt, married November 28, 1951 and sealed in the Temple together on March 28, 1964, his parents William Theodore Zufelt and Eva Mae (Farrington) Zufelt, his grandparents Isaac and Lydia Zufelt and Clifford and Ida Farrington, his sister; Dorothy Bracamonte, Florence Baker, Ruth Alsbrooks and his brother Wayne Zufelt. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 12:30-2:00 P.M. at LDS Relief Society Room in Claypool, AZ Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Claypool, AZ Interment will be at Globe Cemetery, Globe, AZ
