Raul G. Sanchez

d. August 25, 2013

Raul “Nuga” Sanchez, a lifelong resident of Globe, died August 25, 2013, at the age of 85, at the Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa following a brief illness. Mr. Sanchez graduated from Globe High School. He worked until his retirement from the Arizona Department of Transportation Highway Department. He was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church, and before his health declined you’d see him walking every morning on the overpass bridge. He volunteered at several local community events, but his greatest contribution to our community was his more than 55 years as a volunteer umpire at local baseball and softball games. His interests included family gatherings, listening to Mexican music, attending his grandchildren’s sports games, and of course watching Notre Dame Football. He was by far, their #1 Fan. He is survived by his sons, Danny (Teresa), Fred (Denise), Caroline (Richard) Huerta, Ronnie (Arlene), Georgia (Larry) Dorame, John (Angela); and 31 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Sanchez, his daughters, Patricia Rose and Gloria Ann, and two great-grandsons, Rian Sanchez and Hunter Bennett. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: Dylan Earven Foundation PO Box 1457 Globe, Arizona 85502 Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 9:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, in Globe, AZ
