Vernon Eugene Clark

Vernon “Gene” Eugene Clark passed away July 29, 2013 in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born January 25, 1938 to Johnnie Fae Clark and Jinx Clark. This marriage fell apart in approximately 1941, Johnnie Fay then married Clifford (Red) Jones. The couple stayed in Young and had three other children, Jackie Sue, Judy and John Clifford. Around 1948 the family picked up and moved to Red River, New Mexico. From there they moved to Taos, New Mexico. From there he came home to Young where Vernon met and married Glenda Strong. The couple had moved to Superior where Vernon went to work for the Pinal County Sheriff Office. They had 3 children; Brandy Lee, Debra Myshawn, and Lisa Rae. This marriage ended in divorce. Vernon then worked for Flying W Ranch in Young and during this time Vernon moved to Globe. In 1965 Vernon met and married Adelita Lavin Ortega, after being widowed for five years with a five year old daughter, Debra Lynn Ortega, whom Vernon adopted and raised as his own. A son Joseph Vernon was born to Lita and Vernon. Vernon went to work at the Christmas Mine and later on at the Oxide mine where he was promoted as Superintendent and where he later retired. He enjoyed Jr. Rodeoing with Debbie and Joseph where they accomplished many State and National Titles. Vernon met lots of wonderful people that became his life long friends at this time. It was a part of his life that he enjoyed immensely. About this time the marriage with Lita ended in divorce. Vernon spent the last several years with Nancy Christina Jones and they resided on Linda Vista Dr. in Globe. During this time he took up the sport of golfing and relished his years as a very accomplished golfer and enjoyed his many golfing buddies. In his last few years, Vernon also had the opportunity to cowboy and work on several ranches around Gila County for the J Bar B Cattle Company. This was truly a highlight of his life until his health started to fail him. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry and John C. Jones. Vernon is survived by his sons; Brandy L. Jones (Freda) of Farmington, NM and Joseph V. Jones of Globe, AZ his three daughters Shawney Powell of Lubbock, TX, Lisa Pool (Danny) of Fulton, MO and Debra L. Kobza of Globe, AZ, his sisters; Jacki Childress and Judy Amos, one step-daughter Desiree Hiestand (Doug) of Las Vegas, NV. 11 grandchildren, nine great grand-children and two step grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, AZ
