Carl A. McCoy age 88, passed away on May 24, 2013 at his residence in Little Acres, AZ. He was born on July 21, 1924 in Thornton, AR. His parents were Jacob Thomas and Hazel (Holcolmb) McCoy. He is survived by his sister Aileen McCoy Bywater (Jim), his sister-in-law, Jean McCoy, his brother-in-laws Richard Cromer (Cleo), and Roy Stepp (Diana), his grandchildren; Didi Carnahan (Ron), Daisy McCoy, Jenni Steveson (Kevin) and Carl McCoy, he had six great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. He came to Arizona in 1941 to find work in the mines. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Cromer, in 1945. They were two months short of celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary when Dorothy died in 2011. Carl developed a special relationship with his brother-in-laws and welcomed them into his home. Carl and Dorothy had one son, Tim, in 1946. His son, Tim, married Twinkle Mazei in 1967. He was surrounded by many loving nieces and nephews. He cherished all of his family. Carl was very active in the community. He was a Little League coach and sponsored the Luther League at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was an active member at St. Paul’s and sat on the council for several years. He helped maintain the church and parsonage and was there to help with any building or repair projects. He worked at Castle Dome and Copper Cities driving the ore trucks, the powder truck and the hydra lift. Carl was a master pipe fitter. He worked for the Copper Cities and Pinto Valley as a pipe fitter. The last three years with the mines he worked on the guard force. Carl retired in August of 1984. He took great pride in being an active life-long union member. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his two brothers, W.T. and Randy, his son, Tim, and daughter-in-law, Twinkle. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family and friends Visitation will be on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Country Club Manor/Miami, AZ Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the church.
