Germaine Dewey

Germaine Dewey, age 78 of San Carlos, Arizona, passed away on March 29, 2013 at Banner Desert med. Center in Mesa, AZ. She was born in San Carlos, AZ on March 14, 1935 the daughter of Lawrence and Della (Cassa) Steele. Germaine was raised in Superior, AZ but later moved back to San Carlos. She attended Junior High at St. John’s. She liked to participate in many traditional ceremonies. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending her grandkids sporting events. She loved to garden and had a green thumb. She also like to cook and prepare and gather acorns. She will be greatly missed by all her family. Preceded in death by her husband Raleigh Dewey in 1979, her parents Lawrence and Della Steele, her daughters Greta Hammond, Delmay Dewey, her sons; Raleigh Dewey, Jr., John A. Dewey and Herndon Dewey, her brother Alex Steele. Germaine is survived by her children Winema Turney, Therlen Benally, Samuel Dewey and Vernitta Dewey, her sisters; Patricia Wesley, Louise Long, Emily Steele, her brothers Riley Steele and Wilford Steele, 28 Grandchildren and 44 Great Grandchildren. Wake will be on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. at Wanema Turney Residence in San Carlos, AZ Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Burdette Hall in San Carlos, AZ Interment will be at San Carlos Cemetery.
