Sylvia Ann Lopez, 58, native resident of Claypool, passed away on November 20, 2012 at her home. She was the eldest of two children and had been preceded in death by her parents, Robert D. and Teresa E. Lopez. A bright and creative mind, Sylvia’s diagnosis of lupus early in her life led to a life-long struggle and physical challenges, but that didn’t stop her having a smile for everyone, and she knew no strangers. Sylvia enjoyed working in a diverse number of positions when her health permitted – everything from office administration to hostessing. She particularly enjoyed the five years she spent selling and producing advertising at Cable One. She was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami, and was involved in peer counseling at Horizon Human Health Services. Those who knew Sylvia will remember a voracious reader and a generous friend. She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Eastlick of the Washington, DC area, and her sister, Rosalie Hirano of Tempe, along with Rosalie’s husband, Doug. She was a doting aunt to her nephew and niece, Noah and Olivia. Services are being handled by Lamont Mortuary. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at 6:00pm at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami, AZ, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am on Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Church. Interment will follow at Pinal Cemetery. In remembrance of Sylvia and in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Horizon Human Health Services, at 1100 N. Broad Street, Globe, AZ 85501.
