Irene R. Gutierrez 81, original owner of Irene's Real Mexican Food in Globe, passed away on November 14, at her home in Tempe, Arizona. She passed away surrounded by her family. Irene was born on February 13, 1931 in Turkey Shoot (Loomis Ave.) Miami. She was the eldest of seven children. An Arizona native she had the desire to share her cooking with the people. Irene was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a very caring grandmother. Irene was a devoted Catholic and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe and previously a member of Holy Angels. Irene married Jesus Gutierrez in 1949 in Globe. Irene was very supportive while married in the various businesses that they owned in Globe and Miami. Irene and Chuy built and owned “Irene’s Mexican Food” for a number of years until they sold the business to their Son Mario & Rita. Rita still owns & operates the restaurant. Preceded in death by her husband Jesus (Chuy) Gutierrez and son Mario She is survived by her children, Marie, Ray and William, her brothers Chalo Reynoso and Antonio Reynoso, sisters Cuca Villalobos, Josie Ramos, and Abigail Hargrove as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and multiple other family members. She will be missed, may it remind us to live in her ways and nurture our families, and take the time to enjoy our new generation and to see the simplicity of our being and our hope for the future.
