Forrest Elbert Smith, age 84, of Kearny, AZ passed away on October 29, 2012 at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, AZ He was born in Paris, IL on February 13, 1928, son of Forrest Patrick and Viola Mae (Parker) Smith. Lived in Arizona for 65 years. Forrest was schooled in Illinois and moved to Arizona in 1947 to help his father find and mined Gold. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea. After the war, he returned and opened up gas stations in Globe, Flagstaff and Phoenix. He also had worked for Kennicott and Asarco as a Mill Foreman. Forrest enjoyed to race cars. He owned and sponsored several of them. His liked to go camping in the White Mountains in Greer with his family. He is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Laverne (Huggins) Smith on November 25, 2004. Forrest is survived by his children Roncie Jolene Boydston (Brad), of Kearny, AZ, Debbie Arelene Mendoza (Chris), of Florence, AZ, Forrest “Butch” Gene Smith, of Kearny, AZ, Darenda Idell Day (Bob), of Kearny, AZ, his sisters: Mary Huggins and Geraldine Sater both from Miami, AZ, 14 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel, Globe, AZ A second visitation will be on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be at Globe Cemetery, Globe, AZ
