Harry Jefford Tonto

Harry J. Tonto, age 74 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on July 28, 2012 at his residence in Phoenix. He was born in San Carlos, Arizona on July 8, 1938. Son of Zee and Uneeda (Rice) Tonto. He was raised and attended grade school in San Carlos. He graduated from Phoenix Indian High School in Phoenix. Harry then moved to Hayward, CA where he attended a trade school. He found a job working for SouthGate Ameron Pipe Co. as a welder and later took a management position and transferred to Phoenix. Harry enjoyed spending time with his family specially traveling, boating and having family B-B-Q’s. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was an ASU football season ticket holder (Sec.: 23) and was so happy to be able to go and watch the Gran Prix Race in Phoenix. Harry served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He is preceded in death by his daughter Germaine Tonto, his brother Edgar Tonto and sister Minnie Thinka. Harry is survived by his children; Vernon Tonto, Diana Tonto Acejo (Julian) Lynne Tonto-Riggs (Dean Riggs). Six grandchildren, Vernon Tonto, Sylvia Mendoza, Vanessa Tonto, Rachel Aguilera, Alex Acejo and Berdina Tonto-Riggs and 9 great grandchildren. Viewing will be on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 7:00 A.M. at San Carlos Miracle Church Funeral services will follow at 10:00 A.M. at San Carlos Miracle Church. Interment will be at San Carlos Veterans Cemetery.
