Richard Eddie Fielding, 63, of Globe, Arizona passed away in his home on October 11, 2011 after a year long struggle with cancer. He was born in Taft, California on September 2, 1948. He was the only child of Richard Ben and Willie Helen Fielding. He moved to Globe from California in 1953 when he was only five years old. Due to his father’s work he attended many schools in Arizona. He joined the Navy when he was 17 and was on the USS Coral Sea. He was in the military for four years. Richard was a mechanic at McSpadden Ford from 1970-1974. He then finished as a heavy duty mechanic from 1974-2011 and retired from Freeport-McMoran in April 2011. Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved to serve and did for many years in several different capacities. Richard is survived by his wife, Judy Kay Fielding; one daughter, Hope Flake, son-in-law Jim Flake; 6 grandchildren, Chad and wife Arika, Josh and wife Brooke, Lexi, Jace, Noelle and Halle Flake; 2 great-grandchildren, Courtney and Max Flake all from Gilbert; mother and father-in-law, Pauline and Mel Paschall of Apache Junction; and two brother-in-laws, Dennis Paschall from Mesa and Billy Newton from Colorado. Richard’s main love in life was fishing. He loved to go to the lakes around town often but the highlight was the many trips to Mexico with friends to catch “the big fish”. He also loved hunting locally for dove and quail. All memorials should be sent care of Lamont Mortuary, 328 South Hill St., Globe, AZ 85501. They are assisting the family with arrangements.
