Reed W. Halverson, 79,of Globe, passed away on Wed. August 24, 2011 at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Ctr. in Globe Arizona. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on December 10, 1931, the son of Tossetta (Waldron) and Harry R. Halverson. He was a retired teacher of the Globe Public School system having been an instrumental band instructor there beginning in 1962. He loved instrumental music and instilled his passion for music, highlighted by his sense of humor into the numerous students he touched over the years. Reed was a past member of the AF and AM Masons, Knights Templar, Order of the Eastern Star, Globe Police Department Reserve Officer, Fraternal Order of Police, National Education Association, Director of the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps of Douglas, Arizona and served as a Sgt. in the United States Army Reserve. Although music was his primary interest over the years, he enjoyed many other activities including watching sport, fishing, golfing, helping as a ranch hand, yardwork, camping, traveling in his motorhome and helping others. Reed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harry Halverson, Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Halverson, two daughters, Debbie Tinnin and her husband, Dusty of Casa Grande, Arizona and Donna Gustafson and her partner Kat Harder of Globe, three grandchildren; Dustin (Sarah) Tinnin, David (Carolyn) Tinnin and Cyndi (Lloyd) Clevenger, three great-grandchildren; Alyssa and Eliana Tinnin and Matthew Clevenger and his sister Joan Hrachovina of Venice, Florida. The family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Bank of America, Acct. # 457020669553 which in turn will be presented to the Globe Band Booster Club for benefit of the Globe High School Band Program. Per Reed's request, there will be no formal services. A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens in Miami, AZ.
