Eugene "Fuzz" Deatherage

Eugene “Fuzz” Franklin Deatherage, born February 26th, 1933 in Picher Oklahoma, to Park and Gladys (Stallion) Deatherage, Eugene was the second of four children. His family and friends called him “Fuzz” and “Pop.” For the last eight months he fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family when he went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 13, 2011. Eugene is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children: Darryl (Dana) of Globe, Cathy Ruiz of Globe, Brian (Carie) of Sahurita; his stepson, Shane Dover (Tammy) of Washington; his brother: Claude (and Linda) of Globe, Lonnie (Sharon) of Chandler; and his sister, Sue (Leon) Blevins of Globe. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Eugene spent most of his life in Arizona. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 and was wounded while serving in Korea. He met and married Nancy in 1985. They continued to live in Claypool, AZ until the time of his death. He worked as a mechanic for the Christmas, Cities Service and BHP Copper mines. He retired from BHP in 1994. Eugene loved to hunt, fish, play bingo, and spend time in his shop with his kids and grandkids. He was a wonderful man and cherished all of his roles in his family. He was dearly loved as a brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Eugene’s life will be celebrated by family members and close friends with private memorial.
